Well, I think working as an assistant at the agency is a great way to get in because I think there’s lots of opportunities to get that job. Since there’s, you know, six or seven major agencies, there’s hundreds and hundreds of agents; they all need assistants. And if you can handle working for low pay and long hours, it’s a great way to get your foot in the day because it doesn’t take an enormous amount of experience if you’re a competent, dedicated, intelligent person to answer phones and make appointments and manage someone’s schedule. The opportunity to both meet an enormous amount of people and network when you’re at an agency is terrific. I think it gives you a great sort of overview of the business. When I got out of college, I had no idea about who did what in the movie business. I think now there’s been so much more written…there’s so many more books, there’s so many more online networks…I think kids know or young people know so much more about what people do and what each facet and different role people play in the business. I had no idea. So that was a great way to sort of start, or I’ll say now I know what an agent does, I saw what executives do, I saw what producers do. And it sort of gave me a sense of, okay, that interests me, that doesn’t. You know, there’s a great sort of shared camaraderie I think among assistants because no one wants to be an assistant. Everyone’s trying to figure out how to get to the next step. And, you know, someone equated it to being in the Army together and sort of that shared experience that you carry with you. And those friends I have now, we were all assistants together, and we’ve all sort of moved up, and we all sort of have that shared common bond and there’s still a great camaraderie some 20 or 30 years later.
